This is a work which I painted based on my appreciation for music. When I started painting, I did not intend to create the image of a piano, but when I began applying the colors and playing with the forms that I wanted to infuse with the sense of melody and crescendos, the form of a piano appeared and I decided to leave it that way. Pianos are beautiful, strong, stable objects. Sonata in music means “a piece played”, in contrast to cantata, which are sung. Both Sonata and its twin Cantata evoke more frivolity, playfulness and light heartedness. So as I myself played trying to “paint” music, Sonata became the name I chose to give to this artwork.
